Description

Silkscreen Edition. Designed, printed, signed and numbered by “montón de trigo montón de paja”. Segovia. Made in Spain.

Agapito Marazuela Albornos (Valverde del Majano, Segovia 1881-1983) was a Spanish folklorist, musicologist and prominent dulzainero. He dedicated himself throughout his life to compiling the Castilian musical tradition threatened with extinction

The bean dance, one of the most characteristic and popular of Castilian folklore, has numerous versions and denominations according to areas. The roots of this rhythm that is so ours are in the Baile de Rueda Castellano, where it always served as the final culmination for the celebration.

The intro was the usual way to open the old Baile de la Rueda in the Castilian towns. This form of intro was lost over time, but the dulzainero Agapito Marazuela gave some news about it in his Cancionero Castellano where he collects some melodies about it.

His Entradilla Castellana is one of his most characteristic collected pieces and currently serves as the beginning for certain shows. In addition to being danced in the wheel, it also had a processional character that was played at the exit and entrance of the chapel of the image to procession, indicating the moment in which the dancers should begin to dance, it also served as a dedication to the authorities or to the bride and groom with the best dancers, or with a more playful and competitive sense, where the young people demonstrated their ability with their execution.
